There’s something really rewarding about growing your own produce. For the past 4 years, Todd and I have used pots and apartment planters to grow a few veggies and herbs here and there. This year, we decided that it was time to commit to a full crop. So we built our own two-tiered, wooden planter boxes and filled them with plants we grew from seeds (with the exception of the tomatoes… those we had to replant from seedlings).

We’re so excited to incorporate these veggies into our healthy meal plans. I’ll keep you updated on their growth progress!

I can really see how much you've improved your allotment. Good for you! Keep up the good work. My parents have had decades worth of super healthy rhubarb coming up in their garden. Interestingly enough, it was planted to one side of an apple tree. The shade from the tree probably saved the rhubarb during the summer. We get especially hot (and humid) summers here. If you might want to go a different, less permanent route, you might consider big pots or growbags around you apple tree. I'm so excited to see how your no till garden evolves.

Lovely to see another no dig allotment coming on so beautifully. I think that I might still move the logs away from the veg beds so they continue to provide habital but not so close to your tender and tempting baby veg plants. Also I might be a bit concerned about the apple tree in the centre of where you have your veg beds, it might create a lot of shade as it matures and is in full leaf…

So exciting about the frog spawn! I definitely agree about the time vs money point too Erica. I've been buying my compost and it's really helped get things moving

Looking great Erica! With the bushes, I wonder if its worth taking lots of hardwood cuttings so that you can eventually replace them? Also your deep bed would be good for carrots/parsnips? I agree with you about edging. I find whatever I use on the paths slips onto the beds without some sort of edge.

Well done Erica a credit to your hard work, move the fruit bushes to a new location that has had all the weed roots removed.

    ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.

Erica your allotment garden is really taking shape, awesome job, hope the time and weather will let you get on with your plans for the garden. God bless you and your family. 🙂

With the fruit bushes, weed as much as possible by hand pulling in the grass then mulch with a thick layer of leaves or bark chippings ( what ever you can get free) I do it every year with all my raspberry and currant bushes, it greatly reduces the amount of weeding needed!

love how u have used the wood for the edges of your beds , i love a natural look , as for the fruit bushes near the green bag , i would pull all the grass and weeds , if they are well astablished . They look worth keeping

youll need to plant a money tree next to pay the B&Q prices for their wood, must be the deerest planter in the uk but jesting apart, a very nice job done.
