Cement, together with stone, is one of the materials considered most resistant to the external environment, and has been used for many years to make flower boxes. The concrete is able to take shape depending on the cast used. In this way there is no limitation to size and shape. The concrete can be left in its natural composition or coated, to give it a more pleasant aesthetic appearance. The classic gray color makes the concrete planter particularly suitable for those rather minimalist gardens, where you want to avoid inserting too showy and brightly colored furnishing elements and accessories. Concrete has a finer processing than stone, the planter can be purchased in its natural state and subsequently decorated according to the customer’s taste. The choice must be dictated by a personal need, according to which it is preferred to another material. Just like the stone planter, it is also quite heavy and in any case, it can always be painted.
There are two different versions of concrete planters: with the support base directly on the ground or with feet that keep it raised to allow the water to drain. Unlike other models of planters, those in concrete place the earth in close contact with the material itself, but there is no need to fear as it is still considered suitable for the normal development of plants. As mentioned before, the outside of the planter can also be decorated with stones, everyone can give free rein to their creativity to create concrete planters unique and personalized. Concrete is a material that is resistant to sudden changes in temperature, nor is it afraid of snow and frost.

To make a planter, the cast is filled with concrete, and some time must pass before the planter can be used. The concrete does not darken with the passage of time and the action of rainwater does not damage it, as happens in the case of stone planters. There concrete planter can be placed in an area of the garden to create a sort of divider, also because in open spaces it is difficult to find an alternative solution to that of planters to divide the various areas: it is not possible to use a fixed structure because it would prevent the passage of the air and the view of the surrounding landscape. The planter, on the other hand, is able to trace a perimeter without making the space too suffocating, the concrete one, then, is the one that best meets this need. By placing several planters side by side, of the same model, a real continuous line is created to be used as a room divider.
Any type of plant or flower can be placed inside the concrete planter, and its size must be proportional to what is planted. Regarding this, this type of planter offers different solutions, because it allows you to find small or large models, with a round, square or rectangular shape, in the classic or worked version. Before choosing this type of planter you need to know that this has a considerable weight even when empty, and even more so after it has been filled with soil and the plant. The concrete, being materially very robust, allows the planter to have an unlimited duration, and this means that it can be stored even during periods of inactivity. Leaving the empty concrete planter outside means finding it full of rainwater, and this can create problems in the long run, so it would be advisable to at least turn it upside down to prevent water from entering. When the concrete planter is emptied it must be cleaned from the inside of all traces of earth.
The effect that this type of planter can also recreate as a garden furnishing object depends a lot on the size of the planter itself and its processing. However, it is a rather classic, timeless planter that will bring a touch of class to any garden without being overly showy. Everyone can then decide in which place it is best to place it also based on the size of the garden itself. Before deciding to decorate the garden with concrete planters it is always good to inquire about its specific characteristics and realize if it can be the best solution or not.
