DWC Bucket System – This video shows how easy it is to use off-the-shelf components to build and operate “Ron’s Bubble Bucket”, the popular, efficient, Deep Water Culture (DWC) Bucket System. This unique system is designed to use no air-stones but, instead, forces raw air into the root area through a hand-made multipurpose tube using a small, inexpensive, aquarium-type air pump. It is very cheap to build and the growing results are truly amazing! Later named “The Amazing RootSpa” you can see much more of this system and several other “cheap and simple” hydroponic gardening systems on my channel that you can easily build yourself. Although this process has received the “thumbs-down” from airstone manufactures and Micro-bubble advocates – the excellent results speak for themselves!

Is there any reason you couldn't simply use 1/4" hole, grommet and elbow so that you don't need the special adapter? Wouldn't that also increase the velocity of the airstream and therefore more bubbles?
Just wanted to say thanks Ronald! I'm trying on my current kratky beans as even though it works well, the top roots tend to dry out. I'm hoping that besides the extra oxygen in the water, the bubbles popping will keep the upper roots a little bit more moist and keep it humid in the bucket…all without airstones. Thanks again!
Thanks Ron. Tomatoes and basil look great.
I can barley hear you lol
Hi Mr. Kleinman,
I am making a DWC I understand all of your instructions. I have a question. What is the water level in the bucket does the basket have to sit in the water in the beginning or above the water. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Can you share how to make the custom thing to attach the air hose to the 1/2" tubing? Thanks!
Very easy system. How important is the Dissolved Solids count , or is pH more important to monitor? Thanks for your efforts.
+Ronald Kleinman Can you specify which gromet you use exactly ? I bought the 1/2" elbows, along with a spade of the size you specified (13/16" I believe).
I had ordered 1/2" grommets but they are too small. before ordering more, I just would like to hear it direct from the source 🙂
Thanks alot, amen to simple stuff that works better then complicated stuff ;)
Hello Ronald I have had some good results with inexpensive Ex cut flower water buckets planting and growing potatoes, carrots, leeks and beans etc in them. I grow these outdoors on my Patio. Is a Deep Water Culture Bucket System suitable for using outdoors? I was thinking that rain could be an issue.
I did enjoy it. I liked your basil. :)
Ronald Kleinman…AKA RonMan! Rocks!!!

so I'm hard of hearing & I don't understand what you are calling the "Basket" thingy & where can I get it at..? Do you sell kits..?? & what is that meter called..???
do i have to turn on the pump 24 hours?
can i raise fish in this system?
Thanks for the guide very informative took me a second on the filter thing. Reminds me of the first day learning how to break down a weapon. Now I can build some decent winter crops indoors at the local soup kitchen 😉
The issue with hydroponics is that you will need to shop for "plant food" or nutrition and supplements which can be high-priced.
Brilliant! I want to try this system but isn't the pump expensive in electricity? Also do you have any experience with ozone? I have an ozone producing unit and want to try this The idea is that ozone is three oxygen atoms so I thought it might work even better. Any thoughts if this might be a good or bad idea? Thanks for the inspiration and take care!
The disadvantage of hydroponics is you need to shop for "plant food" or nutrition and supplements which are pricey.
Can you grow plants from seeds with this system? Would I have to use a smaller net pot? I guess what I'm asking is how do you plant seeds in this awesome bucket system? Thanks for the video!
