This greenhouse has been empty for a while now so it’s time to put her to good use. In this video, I show the basics of the FAWN platforms and the beginning setup process. I’m excited about the winter season. I hope you enjoy the video!

I grow in a system I call FAWN which is a modified hydroponic drip system. The media I grow in is aged rice hulls with parboiled rice hulls mixed most of the time. In this case, I’m using peat and parboiled rice hulls. I will video more on that very soon. I use Masterblend fertilizer as my nutrients to every plant grown. I’ve been pretty successful with my setup growing hydroponic tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, squash, cucumbers, cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce, turnip greens, corn, potatoes, kale, carrots, beets, spinach, onions, leeks, and even okra! Everything a gardener would desire.

Looks great Brent. I've got everything packed up and put away for winter. I had a good season all-in-all, even going to try to over winter 6 Jalapeño plants :/ Kinda scary. I'll be sure to check in on you, make sure your not getting into any trouble. 🙂

Hello Brent. What sort of winter daytime / nighttime temperatures do you expect to get outdoors and what temperature are you planning on trying to maintain in your greenhouse. Here at Home Grown Veg we have a few leeks ready to harvest, some spring cabbages and winter onions in the raised beds but apart from that its tidy up / make winter compost time and that's about it until next spring. Glad to see again a video from you ! Do you plan to add some artificial lighting, or solely rely on natural light ? (would be pretty low during winter, and the days not very long, wouldn't it ?)

Looking good Brent, welcome back! We converted a small 3 season porch into a small greenhouse in the summertime. Our growing season is only 3 months at best more like 2. Long story short we just insulated it and placed a small heater inside with fan and we are still growing tomatoes and cucumbers, seeing how long I can continue to grow for the winter months as it will go down to -the minus 20s. I bought some Russian tomato seeds, they are just little seedlings right now but I intend later to switch my summer plants to these guys. I am hoping because these are more tolerate for cool temps that will also help with my growing in my root spas. I look forward in seeing more of your videos..
