About Us.
Byther Farm is a small organic homestead, designed and managed using permaculture practices. We aim for self-sufficiency in fruit and vegetables for increased self reliance and better resilience to the modern world. I recognise that we are unlikely to be truly self sufficient, but do the best we can. I share our home with my loving partner, Mr J and our cat, Monty.
We are a fifty-something couple who live on a smallholding in Monmouthshire, Wales. We are going green and creating a gentler, cleaner and more healthy life for our family.
There is a large organic kitchen garden with no dig gardening raised beds and young food forest in which to grown our fruit and vegetables.
We keep chickens and Aylesbury ducks.

Thanks Liz for the suggestions. Love your delivery, very restful.
Hi Liz. Thanks again! Lovely video and you can spot the Severn bridge!
thank you liz
Hii , I'm new to gardening experiments and sowing seeds, I thought i'll try lemon seeds 2 weeks ago, I sowed 12 lemon seeds and amazing they have all germinated. I planted some strawberrys, oranges, cucumbers and tomatos aswell which has also germinated.
I bought a pot of basal, I stripped the leaves to cook with and re potted it in a bigger pot with new compost and all the leaves are growing back.
Gardening is really fun. And what a beautiful hot August we're having so far which is helping my crops.
As a professional gardener, working on more than one manner house including kitchen gardens,
I'm sure you would be better off, resting your ground, as all those seeds planted are a wast of your time
Thanks
Great video as always Liz, love your channel
Only if I knew how to make MAYO!
your little ''house'' there has what gauge plastic wrapping?
Great vid
Just discovered your channel. What a treat!! really helpful, thank you!
Liz could you tell me where you get your seeds from please? PS I live near Chepstow
Liz thanks for this. I always stop sowing in June once I start drowning in courgettes! I'll crack on and get some seeds in my empty onion beds 🙂
Lovely overview (and Demo) on what to sow now, I'm in Western Oregon, so similar climate!
It’s way too hot here to wear a sweater in August in Houston.
Love ❤️
Hi Liz, thanks for this great video. Due to lock down and other reasons I was unable to get to my allotment until now. It is a jungle! I'm so far behind, weeds have taken over esp couch grass any tips about how to get on top, and get ahead? I'm going to try to sow some of the seeds you suggested. I only have beds no indoor tunnels.
Watched the new channel yesterday. It was excellent The Weedy Garden watch it
