sorry about the delayed response. We don't get very harsh storms here in Auburn California. There was a foot of snow on it last year and it held up fine. I've had the plastic on for about 3 years and I haven't had any problems. No, it doesn't cost much in electricity to run a pump. Maybe $5 a month. I do cool the greenhouse in the summer and that can get costly with an 800 sq ft house. All the water is recycled yes.
