On Nov 2, 2017, we were blessed to move onto our 15 acre, rural homestead. Our goal for our new homestead is to produce 90% of what we eat, like our grandparents did 100 years ago.

Hollis, I have a question. Here for the melon trellis you said you used landscape timbers, they are treated, correct?
My husband made a beautiful bed with landscape timbers, then was reading on the chemicals and decided not to use it for food consumption.

What size turnbuckle are you using?
If I were to grow 7-8 pound melons on a trellis, would they melons be too heavy and snap off the vine?

Hi Hollis & Nancy, I'm acquiring materials to build this trellis and I have a questions regarding the cattle panel horizontal wire spacing. What is the width and length for one of those square boxes on the metal trellis? There are various sizes and I want to make sure I buy the same one.
