Hang out with us in the garden with us as we do some vertical gardening, reshape a garden bed, clean it out and plant some runner beans and sugar snap peas on a cattle panel trellis.

How are you growing vertically? Thanks for watching!
Very nice garden
Good job you two!
For all the guys out there..please notice how NOT to tell a woman how to hold a hammer in the middle of her own video! I know you think you are helping…but sometimes your unsolicited advice can feel a bit insulting, especially when doing it in front of others. In the middle of HER video, is not the time to "educate" her. A guy might think, "Why is this a big deal?" Because, we grow up in a wold where we are used to being talked down to by guys and if you want to be a real ally to women, then YOU need to be willing to be educated! Had this been another adult male holding the hammer "wrong" nothing would have been said to protect his pride. But, women are often treated like kids in these situations, even in front of others.
I think you might enjoy renowned gardening authority Charlesdowding.co.uk and No Dig Gardening. Transformed my world! No more digging, fewer amendments, and a more productive garden!
Off topic. Where did you get the tool case?
I live in Michigan, out in the country with lots of property but limited funds. Last year I could not afford to water plants or buy starter plants. So I just been buying vegetables. However this year I am going to make some rain barrels and start my seeds in doors for the money savings. I do have a compost barrel, a few huge piles of dead vegetation, lots of trees, and a wood chipper. My question is do oak leaves break down in compost easily? Because its winter here I can't do much but save my food scrapes. In addition its a lot of work for a single person who works full time. But to save money I am going to do my best. I think I will buy some large garbage pails for barrels. All the barrels I see look like they had some contaminated liquid in them.
I am planting snowballs in the sunny land of ice and snow . . . Utah. Good thing I have a small greenhouse to plant my winter tomatoes and peppers in.
Good video
Thank you for sending warm thoughts, Kim!We added 1 minute of daylight here in Zone 5 today!(Chicago), I'd like to day it's because of your well wishes!ALSO thank you for super quick service ans excellent products in the seed collections I Ordered. I can't wait to plant! You guys the packaging is simple sturdy and cute ans she prices really fair, check her out!
So the beans probably would not do well in Texas in 9 a correct? Thank you for your videos even if we're in different zones I always collect some small fraction of info
Hola Kim! Nice refresh of that garden bed! Can’t wait for them Scarlet Runner Beans to take off. Mine sprouted already and are about two inches tall. They are kind of growing slow but I think it’s because it was cooler than expected the last two weeks 41F and lower. So happy that I have them thanks to Misilla over at @learntogrow 🙂 Now crossing my fingers they will do well!
Looks good, I have GreenStalks and love them
Hi, I am in Miami, Florida, zone 10B. No such thing as winter. Coldest nights lately are 55-60°. Really excited to see how you did your arch. Tested 4 blue lake pole beans and realized that my biggest issue is I am not giving my plants the vertical support they need. How wide is this bed and do you keep center clear to walk through. Also do you plant any low shade veggies between the beans? I am going to make a 4×6 bed and wondering if I should do this
I have gardening fever so watching you get yours planted is lots pf fun.
Just a little jealous to see you out in the garden but I did order some seed collections from you for the first time. Here is Wisconsin we typically can't get into the garden until April (if it's a good year) I will come back for grow pots and probably a t-shirt in the future…my New Year's resolution is "no spend Jan-March" other than food and bills… but seeds are food right!! Love you guys!!
I'm in S. Cali too. Riverside County. I planted peas Jan 1st… and it rained the following weekend! We got 3/4" of rain! I still need to get the netting up to keep the hens out. I'll get that up in the next few days b4 seeds sprout and become so so tempting to free range hens. lol. Happy Gardening!
I am so envious of your nasturtiums. My look dinky and not growing well. I have been trying to grow them for years. Here in ALAbama hot and humid. But I never knew they were a cool weather plant. (palm to forehead). OK so I will definitely try and plant them next fall. I always learn so much from you!
Hi, just to let you know here in Australia, nasturtium seeds are use in replacement of capers, that is if you eat capers, they are called “poor mans’ caper”. You can research on it if you are interested. Enjoy your garden.
