I address birds pecking tomatoes, talk about dragonflies and birdbaths and show you my tomato sauce recipe. Sometimes we are gone from the garden for various reasons. When we get back to it, we need to follow garden priorities. Put weeding and other tasks to the side until you check for diseases, pests and treat them. Harvest everything and the get your sprays down. Let the other things wait.

Good reminders/instruction that upon returning to the garden after time spent way. Weeding is always necessary, but seldom is it part of the "critical path" when you've been kept out of the garden for a few days, particularly in the middle of the growing season. Hence, the "critical path" actions to to assess for bug damage, physical damage, evidence of disease, and fruits for harvest — before you let all of your time in the garden be consumed by weeding. Your commentary helps people remember that a pretty-looking garden is a secondary concern to making sure that the plants are fed, and the observed wilting (particularly in cases where it has been raining for days and can't be attributed to lack of water) is addressed quickly and directly, before letting oneself spend hours on weeding.

Beautiful harvest! I like the way that you showcase the vegetables. I love your wild flowers. I like the way that you use a tomato cage to plant your watermelons. My vine plants are running all over my grass. It is beautiful but not efficient. Thanks for sharing!

Agreed about the water soluable fertilizers, which arent bad in of themselves, only the salt fraction that can cause problems if builds up.
There's some goodness using unprocessed fertilizers but a lot of the organic claims are marketing lies, e.g. an organic garden is pest/disease free.
Some things that people add to soil look like unprocessed stuff, like gypsum, but is actually a byproduct of a induced chemical reaction (to produce fertilizer) on source rock that is somewhat radioactive.
It's mostly the pesticides to be wary of. As some of them are toxic to all life ,not just bugs.
Good on you for showing real alternatives to the rather ineffective hippie organic panacea that is exclusive use of say garlic or neem oil spray. Maybe even those could be effective however we act late and tend to overdo it, causing more damage.

Hi Gary!! I love love love your garden !!! You have taught me so much about gardening!!! If it wasnt for you I think most of my vegetables would have succumb to insects. And not to mention my tomatoes would have been demolished from aphids and the black residue left behind from them pesky little things. I also love the way you make your tomatoe sauce , its quick and easy !!! Thanks so much for taking time out of your days to make videos for all us fellow gardeners!!!

    Hi Gary.
Is it a good idea to feed tomato’s when temps are above 100? Your garden is amazing! Thank you for sharing. I’m excited to plant my garden next year. It should be better thanks to you and CaliKim.
    Thanks Lucy.
