This session will provide an overview of the case study conducted by eBay as they implemented a metric-based approach to drive the design and construction of a new high efficiency data center. When eBay experienced the perfect storm of consolidation and growing demand for data center space in 2010, it took a holistic, end-to-end view of the space it was using, the servers it was deploying, and how its data centers were designed and operated. The approach that eBay followed sets an example of the benefits that can be achieved by utilizing The Green Grid’s Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) metric and by implementing the lessons of The Green Grid’s Data Center Maturity Model. In this Q&A, Uptime Institute Director of Content and Publications Matt Stansberry interviews Harkeeret Singh, Global Head of Energy for Technology Operations in Thomson Reuters and Advisory Board member of The Green Grid about the organizations new Data Center Maturity Model, announced at the Technical Foum last week.
