I have been testing some different ways to get air into the water as quiet and efficiently as possible. A venturi with a muffler was the best way. The size of the bubbles is related to the speed of the fluid and the flow of air. The turbulence breaks up the air and mixes it with the water. If air intake is slightly restricted as is the case with small hole and long tube, then faster flow means more water and turbulence to break up restricted air flow making the air bubbles smaller. What matters more is how long they stay in water and that means your fine with lower air flow because the bubbles stay suspended and dissolve rather than quickly float to the surface.

  • If you haven't already tried this, take your single black straw Venturi and put in the intake side of the pump with the straw pointing towards the intake and let the pump's impeller smash the bubbles up. You'll get a very fine bubble which will stay in suspension.

This is very ingenious! Well done! From here in California good job! Can you give me the specifications so that I can build it myself? 8mm pipe to 40mm pipe and another 8mm pipehose on outlet and a Carbon fiber tube…. should we tape it to make it more durable? Also, can't you just cut the end of the straw at a 45 degree angle to make the sound go away? and a few rubber bands for vibration.
