You can also find difference in length by placing your framing square on a board – 6 on the tongue and 12 on the blade. Then mark the edge of the blade, and then slide it along the mark until it reads 16 (for 16" OC). Now look at what the tongue side reads. That is the common length difference of gable or rake studs for a 6/12 pitch. This works for all pitches, just set your square for whatever pitch you have.
That’s a danged good drawing of a roof there bud.
Good infor….thank you
Thank you for the video. it helped clarified some questions I had. Because I have a test on it soon. Just doing some last minute studying while watching a Bigorexia documentary.

That whole cross multiply and divide thing is dumb. Especially since you needed a calculator.
I am yelling through the screen, "x/16 on a 6/12 means all you need is half of 16!"
Bad teacher
I watching lots of tutorials to see if I work out what all this means 8,12) (6,12) (4,12) (3,12)
good
Is this guy from Canada?

Great video man, very helpful
Nice, but that was the length of wall stud.
what is a 5/19 pitch roof
I love math when I use on the job that I love.
I hate math when teachers teach me in the school only because they are paid for it an it make no sense in my life.

Hello we dedicated on manufactured stone , clay tiles on wall.
Welcome contact jennytei(skype) for detailed information.
You should have plugged in 24 inches instead of 2 feet. You have to use the same units of measure. Your answer of 1 was 1 inch not 1 foot. Try plugging in 4 feet and 48 inches and you will you get two different answers.
