About Us.
My first book Grounded (publication Feb 2021) can be ordered via our website https://bytherfarm.com/books . Byther Farm is a small organic homestead, designed and managed using permaculture practices. We aim for self-sufficiency in fruit and vegetables for increased self reliance and better resilience to the modern world. I recognise that we are unlikely to be truly self sufficient, but do the best we can. I share our home with my loving partner, Mr J and our cat, Monty.
We are a fifty-something couple who live on a smallholding in Monmouthshire, Wales. We are going green and creating a gentler, cleaner and more healthy life for our family.
There is a large organic kitchen garden with no dig gardening raised beds and young food forest in which to grown our fruit and vegetables.
We keep Aylesbury ducks.

There is no problem in dumping flowering plants in your compost. at leat 90% of the seeds will be underdeveloped, and besides that, they are being eaten by all the friends in decomposing-chain
Thank you for another nice video. That robin is so cute. In summer, I have some hummingbirds in the garden that come right up to my face to observe me.
Always a pleasure Liz; thanks…
Liz dear, I was thinking I have lots of time in October and than we got 15cm of snow, never in my life so early, but my sprouts are 2m high and full. Enought for 30 souls in my vilage hahaaaa…stay well, love and kisses from Slovenija!
Another instructive and inspiring video. But won't the pigeons eat your brassicas? I've left a net on mine. Any tips for getting rid of slugs which are eating my brassicas?
I love the idea of burying the netting. I'll give that a try next year.
I tend to leave the covers on mine as there are some very hungry pigeons round here. I’ve seen crows having a go too – they took the tops out of many potato plants this year.
Hi Liz, so excited for your book. Could you tell me whether the book will be season/month specific with what to plant? I'm upside down here in Down Under so sometimes it gets confusing for me when reading o/seas books. How did you come up with the name Byther Farm?
That cage looks super! Where is it from? Thanks for an amazing video ❤
Oh well done on writing a book, will pre order now
I fixed my greenhouse just last week! My main job is potting up strawberry runners!
