Managed by a 5th grade classroom teacher Judy Honerkamp, the Speck School Garden in Paso Robles, CA is an exemplary program. Food grown in the garden is used in school food service and school food scraps are composted by worms. Judy gets about 20 day of release time a year and a retired teacher serves as her substitute on the days she is running the garden teaching for all 3rd-5th graders. A truly innovative and affordable approach to a permanent garden teacher!

This is amazing. I am a Dietetic Intern in Georgia working on a business plan to provide funding for a registered dietetian on staff in a school garden program. Excellent work! This program is model for the Atlanta City School District!
