Follow our homesteading journey at Okie Heirlooms! This video is the first episode documenting our DIY Hydroponic Greenhouse. We are using special techniques that are affordable and low-energy, such as a double-wall ceiling and using a swamp (evaporative) cooler. We also discuss a little about Wiggle Wire and it’s effectiveness. Swamp coolers are generally considered inefficient when they are used in high humidity areas. In a desert area they are efficient though. I know may part of OK. is often fairly high in humidity. Does that present a problem for you in our part of OK.?

How do you pollinate with the green house basically closed off as it is in the video?

Hello My Name is Oscar Salazar from Belize Central America. Just wanted to see another video of this tunnel and all its equipment at work. I need to build a structure like this but it is important for me to find cost effective systems as I recommend this to farmers. Thank You.

Nice work, looking to build something very similar, already built a greenhouse from recycled doors and windows and its great! I need to figure out a way to cool it and will be running completely off solar.

How did you build the double wall insulation for your greenhouse top? Do you have double wall insulation on the sides as well?

The 1X4's didn't work out for me. They deteriorated much too fast for my liking. The humidity and the heat are really hard on any lumber but the thicker it is the better chance you have of it lasting.I would use treated 2X4's next time.
