Hi I’m from Cheshire in England
I live in Idaho with my son and his family; they have 4 Americanas and 6 Buff Orringtons, spelling? They have gone out, doing their normal chicken behaviors in the cold rain and snow, and even light wind! I am amazed! My daughter said if they get used to harsh weather ( and you get hardy chickens) they can with-stand more. And if they depend on the heat lamp in the coop all the time (outside coop), then when you remove it suddenly the cold will get to them more. But ,you should experience chicken life for yourself before making a judgement. Individual senarios are just that-individual to that circumstance.
