Farmers in Morocco have been using a pesticide called methyl bromide until now, known to deplete the ozone-layer. Although the Montreal Agreement has banned pesticide by 2015, the European Union has banned all uses of the pesticide this year. This film shows us the UNIDO supported “Growers’ Association Project,” which supports farmers with new environmentally-friendly technologies and alternative growing techniques. UNIDO is the specialized agency of the United Nations that promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization and environmental sustainability. UNIDO recognizes the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as the overarching framework for collective action and believes that a competitive and environmentally-sustainable industry plays a crucial role in accelerating economic growth, thereby reducing poverty and helping to achieve the MDGs. The movie showcases selected activities of UNIDO.
