In this video I talk about my end of season thoughts on our Mittleider garden and what worked and didn’t work. Our Mittleider tomato bed is growing with 2 different soils. On one side we had 75% sawdust and 25% sand, and on the other side is organic garden soil. The gardens that I didn’t follow the Mittleider method did NOT work out. Next year I am focusing on going to ONLY Mittleider and follow the book more closely. links on where to buy the Mittleider book and micro nutrients below. I think you've done an amazing job! You're a Mom with young children and you work and have all the gardening to do! Great job! And thanks for doing the comparison – that's so very helpful. — Did you do a garden this (2016) year? I don't see videos for that and I'd love to. — It's lovely to see a "real" person who has other things going on in their life and not just their garden – it makes it so much more relatable. Thank you!

Wow, imagine what you'd have if you weren't so forgetful. Maybe gardening isn't your thing, but you make awesome videos. Thanks for sharing!!!

I've learned I needed to keep my grand garden ideas in check to match the time available to tend to the garden. In the spring I have visions of fields of vegetables growing and want to expand and add to my existing two 4'x16' beds, but by late summer as the garden is in peak production I find myself thankful I've limited my ambitions, and even then those two beds are a challenge at times to keep up with. Yet I've also done side-by-side comparisons between Mittleider gardening and Square Foot Gardening (I've always gardened the SFG way), and I also found the MGM more productive. This past year was the first year I was completely MGM (though I continue to use soil rather than sand/sawdust) and 2016 I'll be installing the automatic watering system to make it one less chore to do with the garden. Thanks for updating us on your successes and "teachable moments." :)
