Added by on 2016-07-15 Video Rating: / 5 The World Health Organization has named the emirate of Sharjah in the UAE as the first Healthy City in the Middle East. Sharjah joined the Healthy Cities programme of the W-H-O in 2012 as part of the vision and efforts of His Highness Doctor Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi. According to the W-H-O report Sharjah has met 88% of its criteria, which is more than the required 80% percent compliance. According to Doctor Mousa Alazzawi of the Sharjah Municipality, Sharjah was lauded for taking measures to improve its welfare system and social welfare infrastructure in line with the Healthy Cities Programme.
