Artist and designer Marco Castro Cosio was researching for a project when the City of New York gave him access to his first real-life green roof. Subscribe to Mercedes-Benz on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=MercedesBenzTV

If you can put a garden on a bus, where else can you put plants? The lightweight green roofs made Marco think about the question if “we can create cities that are resilient”. Now he works on a project that aims to put lightweight green roofs on city busses.

This project unlocks a lot of possibilities because using the roofs of busses would mean that 1,000,000 square feet of green space would be added to the city. That has a direct effect on the quality of life, as plants not only provide a habitat for pollinators and other animals that are beneficial for our environment, they also cool down cities. Something every New Yorker benefits from in the summer. #switchtoEQ
