It’s been 45 days since creating this little experiment and I must say, it is going well! I’m into production now getting tomatoes and peppers. It started out as an overwintering of a pepper and a pepper from last year’s greenhouse grow and was plugged into an uncertain situation due to lack of space, and quite frankly, desire at that point. So, here we are and I’m glad I did it!

A little about my setup. I have a hydroponic greenhouse. I grow in a system I call FAWN which is a modified hydroponic drip system. The media I grow in is aged rice hulls with parboiled rice hulls mixed. This has proven to be a great mix for me. I use Masterblend fertilizer as my nutrients to every plant grown. I’ve been pretty successful with my setup growing hydroponic tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, squash, cucumbers, cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce, turnip greens, corn, potatoes, kale, carrots, beets, spinach, onions, leeks, and even okra! Everything a gardener would desire. I also dabble in other areas like growing in raised beds, growing in a ground garden, grafting, pond activities, growing fruits, and other projects on the homestead.
Thank you so much for stopping in!
Thanks for sharing your experiments! They generate other creative thought. That caddy is handy.
Just watched these 2 videos for the first time. Don't know how I missed them. I did similar buckets last year but used soil and compost with plain water. My reservoirs weren't as large so I had inlets to refill as needed. Since your setup looses it's wicking capability once the nutrient is below the cup I'm surprised it worked as well as it did. I wouldn't have thought the roots would have gone through the cups. Did you leave the weed cloth out of the cups on this?
So what was your conclusion??? Your video does not agree with the title. You should re-evaluate your work.
I love those caddies Brent! You find some really cool stuff my friend! Everything is looking good in there!
Chuck
lookin Good, nice to have fresh peppers and tomato's. Cheers.
You are definitely getting great results. Where did you get the plant caddies? They look pretty sweet. Best wishes Bob.
Looks good buddy! Your a growing machine I tell ya.
Love those early peppers and tomatoes:-)
On wheels! Now you're talkin'. You have peppers! Dang, you are well ahead of the game! Brent has got it growin' on. Roll on!
Looks like that system is working pretty well for you. That was a big ole pepper. We are sure missing our fresh veggies here. I liked those little caddies too.
very interesting..like it that it have wheel under neat
Brent, these plants are in soil with water in the bottom, or are you using hydroponics nutrients? This looks interesting, I may try this. Can you continue to refill the nutrients up to the top, since I would assume the air roots are in the soil? What strength nutes are you using?
