This video, made by local filmmaker John Merkel, explores kitchen gardens in schools around the Bathurst region in the central west of New South Wales, Australia. The video profiles the kitchen gardens at South Bathurst Public School, the Macquarie Tutorial Centre, All Saints Junior School and Neville Public School.

In kitchen gardens, children develop practical skills in growing, preparing and eating fresh seasonal foods. Kitchen gardens foster environmental awareness, healthy eating and relate to many other aspects of the school curriculum, such as maths and literacy.

This video was funded by Bathurst Community Climate Action Network, Bathurst Regional Council and the Family First Credit Union. The video sub-committee consisted of Jan Page, Judy Walker and Tracy Sorensen.
