In fall 2014, Missouri voters will be offered the chance to vote for a constitutional amendment that, if passed, will permanently protect the rights of farmers and ranchers to engage in farming and ranching practices. This amendment was pursued by Farm Bureau and other groups across every agricultural segment to protect Missouri’s most important business. Amendment #1 is critical to ensure the long term future of agriculture in Missouri. It will create the regulatory certainty necessary for agriculture to grow and thrive in Missouri, and help guarantee that families in future generations can continue to farm and ranch across our state.

You might have the right to farm, but then, so did the surfs in the dark ages.
I guess the American slaves had the right to farm too.
Who knows, maybe some of the bigger guys will actually hold on to their farms and compete with state sponsored, foreign corporations head to head.
Should make for some great dramas when the foreign owned company has a big spill of waste and we watch them send all their lawyers to fight ours, and we lose to them.

This amendment will give foreign corporations equal rights with American family farmers. Be prepared to bid against Chinese companies when those acres near you go up for sale. The largest producers of hogs in our country are Chinese, since they bought Smithfield. This is really serious, important stuff for those of us who want to own our own land. If the price is not too dear for them at twice what we can afford, how long can we hold out? George Orwell would be proud of the title, for sure. He saw it coming a mile off.

I'm pretty sure Iowa tried this about 20 years ago. Of course, somebody sued the state and then it was found unconstitutional. I don't live in MO but would be supportive.
