In this video I am building a bigger hydroponics tower using a 1m PVC pipe, 150mm in diameter.

Better choose a stronger, more powerful pump, than a weaker pump. I only filled the bucket with so much water, that the pump is semi-submerged when it is running. That way the pump is working on half water and half air, but it is not shooting water up in the sky.

If the pump is too weak, then it will not be possible to feed the hydroponic system.

Pump power is often measured in metres head. For example, if the pump is 1.6m, it means that the pump, when fully submerged, can push the water up the pipe to 1.6m height. My hydroponics tower is 1.0m tall, which is why I needed a pump which is stronger than 1.0m head.
