Cheers to Charles Dowding for dedicating his YT Channel to No Dig gardening. I show you how to set up your first No Dig vegetable garden from laying cardboard to putting down compost and mulch. This video will give you all the information you need to start a No Dig vegetable garden. Where you save in labor, you may have to spend on compost, if you dont have your own supply.

You should show your compost that you're trying to do we just saw quick glimpse
I like commented and subscribed
Jesus loves you, Gary!
Sounds like the mic didn’t suffer any damage. Bury it in a bowl of rice to dry out for 12+ hrs. The rice will suck the moisture out. You may have already done this. Great vid, and thank you. I’m about to add another veg garden and have been putting off the dig.
So if you by the double shredded hard wood in the bag do you have to let it sit for six months before to can plant in it?
Thank you for all your videos Gary. I am filling my raised beds this week (9", so taller) and I want to use the non dig method. I can see that here you did not use any soil, just compost and shredded hard wood. Would that be sufficient to grow other veggies than lettuce and potatoes? I am planning on radishes/carrots, tomatoes/cucumbers/etc. Should I mix in some potting soil and/or peat moss to the compost mix at the bottom before covering up with shredded wood? Also what type of shredded wood did you use? Thank you in advance!
Hydrogen peroxide is hard to find these days, Can you find it in your location?
9:00 Suddenly felt like my ears needed to pop!!
Pardon . Do worm castings have worm eggs into it ? I mean if you put some worm castings in our soil will we end up with some worms in our soil?
Can this technique/process be used in an area of the garden that has been largely abandoned for a decade and has large shoots and various bushes and shrubs sticking out that have just all been cut down with hedge cutter/chain saw?
Lol, your wife wants green space, and you just want to plant EVERYWHERE! Sounds a lot like me and my significant other!
I should appreciate for your kind sharing experiences regarding " setting up no dig growing area" and those people can feel this useful information when they face the weeding ground at the time to start growing veg. and that's really headache
How much does one bag of the leaf grow weigh? (compost)
Hey Gary, been watching you a lot recently. Great content!
I am so excited to see this and follow along! I put in 4 No-Dig beds this year and am liking it so far! I, too, have many different kinds of gardening going on at once because I enjoy it! I’m so grateful for the work you put into your videos, your honesty, and your humor! And great Amazon lists! I shop from them! New subscriber here! Can’t wait to see more No-Dig! It’s fascinating!
This is so exciting , two of my favorite garden teachers. I've learned hands down more from you gary than any other person. And charles, well charles is a magical man! You are both so brilliant and I'm excited to see how his method works here in our climates. Thank you so much gary for every video you put out
Hi Gary, another great video. Just so everyone is clear on this. Raised beds are also no digs as you said as long as your not turning them. No dig is the process of continually adding from the top. A fresh layer of Compost is added once or twice a year to the top of the bed (raised or ground level) to feed the bed and keep weed seed from being turned up from below. In addition, by not disturbing the soil it allows the mycorrhizal network to stay intact. Turning the soil constantly breaks up this beneficial network. It also requires less work, tools and fertilizers if using good compost. Have a great growing season everyone. Good luck.
Great info you shared, nice way to start new gardens
We bought compost by bag Black Cow dunk
Now, I know that I can get compost from local companies for free
Great to show more people… We dig and no dig… Usually ends up no dig either way
What else could you grow in a garden like this?
With growing all this food, you know preserving the bounty to store it over the winter months is a must. I'm doing a free home food preservation video series here, kicking off next week. Make sure you snag your seat for it https://melissaknorris.com/food-preservation-video-series/
beautiful woman congrats to your husband
Great tour! Would love to learn more about your herb for medicinal. Love the misc pots of oregano, cilantro, and basil.
Try the radish seeds as a garnish.
What state is this?
Love the video.. May be my over sensitivity but had a hard time not hearing the camera mans breathing. Im always trying to make sure i dont hold the camera too close to my face while i record.
Where do you live, as in which state?
Wonderful video! Any reason, for all the stones as ground cover in the gardens, or just decorative?
How cold does it get there in the winter?
How do you personally get rid of wasps?
Wonderful video, your setup is absolutely beautiful. You are so lucky to live life as you do.
how do you keep the deer from eating your garden? Voles? We have so many deer, they eat everything!
How big is it? I'm planning to feed a family of 6 at least
Your garden is so inspiring. We just bought a home on 7 acres. I’m so hopeful to start raising my own cattle, milk, and vegetables and fruit! I love watching and listening to your videos/podcasts!
Great garden and fruits! I'm surprised that you don't do square foot gardening. You would get 4X the harvest and your soil seems fertile enough with the care that you give it. I see you have purslane growing near your lettuce in the garden. Great plant for omega 3 fatty acids and it even tastes good! Do you ever eat it?
!
Still don't see any cows pigs or chickens…
The planting under your bean-peas teepee really works.. I plant swiss chard or bok choy under my trellises-teepee every year and they benefit from the shade.. you have great gardens & informative videos.. your zone looks similar to mine; I am in N. ID zone 6a; I grow veggies herbs berries and trying to expand my garden as time allows, to include more berries and fruit trees.. I save thousands of veggie seeds and donate veggie seeds to the needy at our local community garden… I am (trying) learning to video my garden with no video recording or editing experience lol
I look forward to watching your channel 🙂
Would like to get the link for your high wind tunnel
lucky no one drops mice lure under roots, colonize ants or wasps, weeds and trees kills crop drops rodens bugs chemicals and mold microwaves damages to all your property and assets and fracking around your well water, not to mention illegal to have anything other than gmo grass under 10 inch
I have just stumbled upon your podcast and I am so excited to dive into all of your amazing content! There are so many topics that I have been needing to learn about! Looking forward to soaking up your wealth of information in the coming weeks ☺
