Cue the birds singing! Cue the neighbor dog barking! Roofing is good for the soul. You articulate the process with amazing clarity. Thank you, this was worth watching.

I'm in Illinois and just had my roof replaced due to hail damage along with removal of the standard vents in favor of this ridge vent upgrade system and after looking at the design on a few you tube videos, I can honestly say I am regretting it now. With enough wind, rain and snow, this system appears to be able to allow for a high probability of moisture to enter the attic. Something I never seemed to have to worry about with tradional metal vents.

You should have used wire mesh before installing the ridge. That is thin plastic and rats can chew right through that. Also American cockroaches, wasp and other bugs can crawl right through those ventilation cracks and get into the attic space. Your attic should be screened like you would your living space with the windows open. Gaps and cracks lead to rodents.

Smart man! You hand nail the cap. I've seen others use 1 inch and a quarter with the nail gun. this is unacceptable and the lazy way to put on cap!

Do not cut your own ridge cap, doing so voids the warranty
