John from http://www.growingyourgreens.com/ will show you how he prunes his cucumber plants to grow them vertically up a trellis. In this video John will explain why he is pruning or single stemming his cucumbers so that he can better manage them when growing them up a vertical trellis. After watching this video you will learn how to properly train your cucumbers (as well as tomatoes) to get them to grow vertically and produce more fruit.

good explanation ! you can train them in two shoots if you leave a sucker somewhere low and train it as it grows

Hi, I am growing cucumbers but they grew in yellow and fat. They never even turned green. Do you know why that could have happened? I'm in Las Vegas, zone 9A.
Oooo ice cream time!
Sorry meant arm pit…"below" Not above it, lol.. Can the sucker be Below the Leaf….
Good vid….but Im a lil confused Because of the arm pit example from what you're saying and what you're doing it was 2 different things …your body the stalk, arm the leaf…. The arm pit is between the 2, ….but the sucker You cut off at the very beginning and then later is above You're leaf Or Arm… so would that make the Sucker on your shoulder or your neck…
Pruning 'suckers' from tomatoes…more appropriately referred to as side stems, does little more than take up your time and reduce your production. Look it up…
Good luck
