How To Plant Tomatoes & Peppers into Raised Bed Vegetable Garden in Arizona – Organic Gardening Tips In this episode, I will be transplanting my tomato and pepper plants into my raised organic vegetable garden bed. Along the way I will be giving you a few tips on how deep to plant them and what fertilizers and plant food to use. I usually plant my tomato plants a few inches deeper than they have been in the cup because they will regrow roots from the little fuzzes along the stem. However, I make sure to pinch off all the extra leaves along the part of the stem that is going to be underground so they don’t rot and cause health problems to my tomato plants. The pepper plants, unlike the tomato plants, won’t grow roots from the stem, so I only plant them as deep as the bottom 2 leaves. In both cases, I make sure that above the ground leaves don’t touch the soil, and if they do, I pinch those off as well. For both, tomato and peeper plants, in the planting hole, I add: 1. One tablespoon of Epsom salt 2. One tablespoon of organic Azomite rock dust 3. One tablespoon of homemade eggshell and banana peel fertilizer (both the eggs and the bananas were organic). One crashed baby aspirin per plant The tomato plants in this video were started indoors from organic seeds on February 14th, 2016. I transplanted them into bigger cups on March 4th. The pepper plants in this video were started indoors from organic seeds on February 22nd, 2016. I […]
