How to grow back kitchen scraps: https://youtu.be/OEl1SGEl7XY
Hi there! If you like gardening, backyard gardening or you’re just interested in plants, I’ve made this very straight-to-the-point guide about hydroponic gardening for beginners. It works either for vegetable, fruits or flowers.
I also include below the whole script narrated in the video. Enjoy and leave a comment! (Hopefully a like too).
So you like gardening and want to know more about hydroponic systems but you haven’t really understood how they work
Alright let’s start from the beginning
What is hydroponic gardening in the first place?
Hydroponic gardening is basically growing plants without traditional soil. This type of system allows water-based solutions to nurture plants through a direct connection between roots and nutrients.
Here comes what you need to know to start your very own
Number 1:
Set up your water reservoir. Later we will see how your plant and the nutrients will get connected. Mix your water with pre-made solutions or do your own mix. The most common nutrients are potassium, calcium, magnesium.
Then set your tray and give each plant the right space to grow.
Good!
Number 2:
Choose the right plant you want to grow, according to your space. This choice will affect the type of system you will have to use and the lighting your plant will need
If you are open to suggestions, as water-hungry plants, lettuce is particularly suited for hydroponic systems

Number 3:
Choose the hydroponic system
If you’re a beginner you might want to start with a wick system. In this system, capillary action will allow wicks to feed directly the root zone with the nutrients coming from the water-based solution. It’s the fastest and easiest, you would just need a water reservoir, a growing medium… well and wicks.
Wicks are usually made out of pieces of fabrics torn in strips with absorbing properties. Like wool strips, yarns or mop head strands
Number 4:
This is a quite an easy part. A Common medium for hydroponic purposes is coco coir, alternatively, vermiculite or perlite can be among others good options
Number 5
The lighting
Alright, we all know the best source of light is the sun. Nevertheless, if you do indoor gardening there are good options. Fluorescent lights are very good although the bulbs maintenance might be quite expensive
On the other hand, high-intensity discharge lights could require additional hardware, ballast or a reflector, but seem to be the closest to natural sunlight
