    Made one of these today for my son with one of your field knifes.
    I couldn't get a whistle from it but gave it to my son and I think his much slabbering in it probably took care of the wooly bits and he got it to whistle.
    Tomorrow we are going to use sycamore.

    Reminds me of when I was a kid and an elderly neighbour taught me how to do this some 25 or so years ago. He also showed me a variation of this where you use a much thicker branch, cut the end flat, cut the "mouth piece" off, drill a hole in it, use a couple of small nails to re-attach it to the bark and now you have a water squirter 😀

    Sweet little craft Ben! Took me back over 60 years when my Grandpa made one for me when I was about 10. I couldn't remember how he did it. Now I can give it a try. Thanks for the great memory. Also was watching to see if you were going to take care of that sharp branch stub. Good job! Great woods craft! I'm a new subscriber and really enjoying your channel.
