Great video. Thank you.
I wonder if this guys Canadian… lolz
Also you might want to buy all the shingles you need for your project b4 taking off the old ones… I'm in a rural area, had 1 side of the roof to do and… couldn't find the same color! Couldn't wait for the time needed for delivery, so had to switch to the closest color product… It's a small modest house but still:))
After hearing and seeing a contractor's cost , I think I might have my project to do on my next holidays . I will be watching and re-watching many of your roofing help videos . Looking forward to them all
I looked into renting air nailers. For the cost I decided to buy two quality ones. Figure I can sell them later only used for one roof job they should sell easy. Getting some cordless tools also I can use them at work my snap on cordless tools are ready for replacement. I looked into renting a lift ladder but it's $150 a day I'm thinking four weekends to get the job done hopefully faster. So at four weekends I can almost buy a lift ladder but I'm not sure how easy I can unload it after I'm done.
The roof behind you looks new. Why are you replacing it?
Hey Shannon, on the point of lanyards while roofing, in December, I took on a job installing a TARP with strapping on top to hold down the tarp. We DID NOT have any fall protection in place. It was addressed a few times but yet it still was not put in place. Lo and behold we got up there anyway. Can you see where this is going? Anyway, it just so happens as I was about to screw down the last bit of strapping the drill ran out of power. So I went down the ladder to get the other battery and replace the drained one. When I went back up I still had snow on my boots. When I got to the edge to resume my work, I slipped off about 22 feet. I fractured 3 vertebrae in my neck, 2 in my back, and also fractured my sternum. It just so happens that it was supposed to be a quick cash job, for a temporary fix. As of today, I am not yet cleared to go back to work. Anyway the moral of the story is(for anybody that is reading this-and I can't stress it enough)don't be stupid like us: meaning me, because nobody will help you when you need it. Not the doctors, the government, or sometimes family. Sorry for the book I just wrote, but I had to put that out there. WORK SAFE PEOPLE.
i think i would just get a metal roof and never have to get the house roofed again
this guy knows how too roof .very good guy
Would be great if the other videos mentioned in this video had links in the description.
Sorry I'm too lazy to search! Also might not find the right ones.
I started to replace my 16×16 gazebo and I already removed the old shingles and every nail from the roof. I will be using 3 squares of Owens Corning shingles and Hydra dry synthetic underlayment by Marco Industries. My question is can I double lay it?
I was of a mind to do a second layer on my now 25 year old, 25 year rated roof, but have decided that I will instead yearly inspect and replace exposed Architectural shingles until such time that the roof looks to be actually compromised to where a new roof is required. We have moderate weather here, not too hot and no snow in central coastal California. What products can I use to mend or patch areas of roof where sand is getting sparse, but shingles are otherwise in good condition? There are 2 small compromised shingles on the roof. Can I just cut a 3-tab style to replace damaged shingle piece and tar-down, or nail with dab of tar on exposed nail head(s)? The roof deck is of original 1" X 6" boards with 3/8" plywood I put down 25 years ago so that the roof deck would lay flatter and have a more sure nailing surface. Any thoughts would be helpful in extending the life of the roof as long as possible. Thank you.
