Never angle your screws, it will ruin the rubber seal,,,and the flat flanged end goes down and the unflanged peace laps over it, it keeps bottom peace flat on perlins and keeps it from walking off straight line.

Despite what building code says in most regions, you'll need underlay over the strapping. Sorry dude. Been in the trade for 20+ years, 10 of those as a journeyman. I used to install this way as well. Not after doing my own garage, though. I went right over the strapping, no shingles or underlay below (garage was unfinished inside at the time). Perfect opportunity to see what happens. During spring and fall months when the temperature tends to swing quite a bit, condensation WILL develop on the underside of the panels overnight, unfortunately, and it adds up quick. It's not just a few drops – you could almost fill a five gallon pail. The condensation runs down the back side of the panels and hits the strapping. Strapping will eventually rot, almost as it would if it were exposed outside, except it's a bit more difficult for covered wood to breathe even with proper ridge ventilation. After just 4 years, my strapping turned grey/black from water stains. This also means that if a person is covering a shingled roof with metal panels because it leaked, then opting to leave out underlay will potentially lead to any holes in the shingles leaking. Of course, it's not a constant hydration, but it will still contribute to the degradation of the structure and insulation in the attic over time (once the insulation is wet and the weight of the saturated fibers compresses it, it's useless even if it's dried out). Just a helpful tip from a fellow journeyman.

Wrong. How do know how well the decking will hold a screw? So Wrong. No vapor barrier? Can you say condensation? Never go over another roof. Strip to the wood deck.

how do you install roof vents with the metal roof? I'm wondering if we can use our existing square vent and whirlybird locations not just a ridge vent. (maybe i missed it?)

Good video. Lots of good info, had to watch a time or two to get it all. Would have loved to seen you do that flashing. Good video nonetheless. Thanks!
