The cucumbers I'm growing don't have tendrils. Don't all cukes have them?
I have been looking all day for some instructions on growing cukes vertically. I'm so happy to have found this video even if it's a year old.
I live in an apartment complex and I have a very small area to garden. This year everything is ventricle. And now my cukes as well! Thank you!!
60-80 plants? Doubt that
Do you prune out the suckers or new growths?
Yes, I've planted. Reliance, 3 Elbertas, and a Contender. Also 4 blueberries, 4 grapes, 2 blackberries, 1 raspberry, and 2 hazelnuts; along with a vegetable garden. Zone 7, Virginia.
I'm more interested to know how you did it with sticks/branches. Wood is crazy expensive right now so if I can use what I've got, even better!
Apologies if you mentioned this and I missed it… How much vertical growth do you typically get? I’m going to try building a trellis (growing about 10 Straight-8 plants) and I’m wondering how tall to make it.
hope your page gets big so you can also invest in a new microphone!!
That is not really it. No slight intended b/c you have a good, informative channel. Pruning includes cutting off side growth. Side branched vines lessen yield. Snip them off and enjoy more harvest. Keep plants restricted to one main vine to get more out of the plant. Do your research folks. Pro farms use this pruning method.
If you have chickens, composted chicken manure makes the very best cucumber fertilizer/ soil ammendment. Vermicompost is great too.
Cukes need a lot of water. They are 95% water like mellons but can't stand in wet soil. Add ammendment that facilitate proper drainage such as sand or grow in raised beds or in 3 to 5 gallon cloth sacks. Ultimately the point is they can't stand in mud.
Thank you.
Pruning lower leaves seems to be the way to go for vertical growing of anything. Thanks!
What about using cattle fence?
Great info, thank you for sharing
Thanks for the info, I'm growing just a couple of cucumber plants at the moment and have allways wanted to try growing them up a trellis, Thanks, great vid.
Timeline of the cycle?
Can you grow any type of cucumber in a green house
Hi! When you say trim the lower leaves, what exactly does that mean? The ones lowest to the ground? Away from most of the fruit? Do you have a video on trimming? Thanks!
Thanks for the video! I wish you had shown more details on your EMT frame. I can't tell what you're using to make the T-connections.
Oops, I just found the video on your website: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=5&v=wOck6XVKrac&feature=emb_logo
