When Gary considered choosing a path at the beginning of his career, he knew that the desire to work outdoors would narrow his career options . He learned that the University of Florida has a course offering ornamental gardening. In this way, his goal is set! In 1979, just one semester before graduation, Walt Disneyland recruited some students to their tree nursery to prepare for the upcoming EPCOT project. Gary was selected as a member of this team. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Ornamental Horticulture, he returned to Disney World to start his career. After accumulating valuable experience in Disney World for several years, Gary realized that his real desire is to practice landscape design. Soon after returning to his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida, he founded a design company that has grown to include installation, irrigation, and maintenance. He started filming his project and attracted the attention of the family and garden TV network at the time, and the “Designer Landscape” program was born. At its peak, it appeared on HGTV and PBS radio stations throughout the United States and joint organizations around the world. Gary continues to run his landscaping business in Jacksonville and shoots new episodes for distribution on the Internet! He welcomes your comments and tries to answer as many questions as possible. .

"Soil animals"….is that some politically correct term for worms? Smh.
If this was 2021 I'd recommend using editable plants instead. Swap ornamental trees for fruit trees, ground cover with strawberries, bushes with peppers, tomatoes and blue/black/raspberries instead of hedge rows.
