Homesteading – DIY vertical wicking strawberry planter
In this episode, Angela shows us how to make a vertical wicking strawberry planter. This is based on the raised wicking bed design, where the bed has a reservoir of water in the base and the water ‘wicks’ up through the soil to the plant roots.
Eventually, we plant on having about 10 of these spread out around the place.

Hi… do you think we can grow carrot too in such vertical pipes ?
Zwicking really only goes up 300 mm so top needs watering aroung the pipe more often than filling the bottom
I feel really dumb for using a glass bottle instead of a 2” piece of pvc.
I hope all is well!
Great idea but worries me is the bottom plants getting to much water and the top not enough.
love your video posts, so good to have ingenuity and Australian based. Will be trying swarm commander in SE Qld next season. Thanks for the instructions on using it.
Nice video. I like how you created the plant holes in the side. Y’all are so smart.
Good timing for me. Spring is trying to come early here in Texas. I love this idea and have time to make one. Thank you!
