Don't buy this pump it's a piece of flaming garbage. The drive will go bad and you will pay $500-$900 in parts and repairs within 2-3 years. I replace with a (PENTAIR) or repair 2-4 units a week..

Overkill. A 1/2HP Whisper Flo pump is more than enough for pools under 20k gallons. They can move 60-80gpm and cost much less.

pgluckydog – I've just purchased a home with a 15000 gal in ground pool. It has a 1hp Single speed 3450 rpm US Motors Pump for circulation and a Polaris PB4-60 Pressure Clean Booster Pump. Would there be really sufficient savings in swapping to a EcoStar? They seem much quieter and cooler, but have you really noticed a savings monthly on your power bill?

Good analogy with cell phone.   I put this pump in last year and love it.  The real differentiating feature about this pump compared to the other variable speed pumps on the market today is the fact that you can remotely mount the display/control pad – "very straight forward."  I was a little aggressive last year with usage and this year I'm trying to dial in the programming for my setup..
