You should totally make a tour video on your greenhouse
I've seen a lot of bubble lifts being used in the DIY Hydro and Aquaponics culture. Have you tried using bubble lifts in either your commercial setup? What were the pro's and con's you discovered (if you did go through pro's and con's) when compared to conventional pumping?
One of the claims I'm leaning towards believing is that bubble lift systems may oxygenate the water better than conventional pumping. But in a drip feed, does that even matter?
drainage back to sump?
You guys seem to use a lot of plastic that is not approved for potable water including those towers. If you have answered this question could you link it to me?
Good video and love what your doing . But ,.,, Uni strut is not cheap and white cable ties are non uv protected . If you use black ties they will last longer .
Okay, thank you! Yeah…I did a bit of troubleshooting in the meantime. I thought it was some Low-E over the tank, but then I discovered the algae bloom in the gutter pipe. Thanks again!
Hi Mackenzie,
No, they shouldn't make the water murky at all. If you have murky water it's either because:
A. the system isn't fully cycled and your water is a tad "sour" – basically you have some bacterial growth that comes with system establishment
B. you have an algae bloom (super common with beginning systems)- this is just part of the ecology getting established.
Over time, as your plants mature, the tower will actually clean and clarify your water.
Hey, do new ZipGrow Towers ever make the water murky at first? I'm trying to find the culprit. My system has been running for a little less than a month with goldfish in it.
Thanks!
you have great clips steve, well explained. keep up the good work.
What pressure do you try to run on the headers above the towers?
Depending on the height of the tower we can get any where from 4 to 10 heads of lettuce on one tower.
How many heads of lettuce can you grow in a square foot of greenhouse with the Zipgrow System?
Sounds like a great idea. Check out the other videos for more on getting started and setting up your system.
Can you help? I want to build a small back yard Aquaponics system and a small indoor
system. I live in Central Canada.
however… i wish you the best for your startup!
Did you ever think about giving the idea of the zipgrow system free for non commerial use? It looks so easy and would be very easy to be rebuild with a slit pvc-pipe for diy fans.
