Vertical farming, indoor farming, and hydroponic farming all rolled into one! Welcome to the tour of The Greenery by my friends Jon and Brad of Freight Farms. I got a SNEAK PEEK of their newest shipping container farm, designed to produce 2-4 TONS of food per year.
This particular unit will be growing calendulas hydroponically, and in today’s video we walk you through every component of the unit and their vertical farming technology. Thanks to Freight Farms for having me out!

So one unit cost 85000 and 8000 to 16500 to maintain. Profits are only half of what it produce.
how much one container
It's faaaar from new. They've been selling for 7 or so years.
Are they going to leave it there blocking the freeway sign? 🙂
I want one.
Great to see where this tech is heading. There will be pests sooner or later, I'd be interested in that research.
Hmmm…looks like a farm you might see in The Matrix.
thanks for the videos nice. check mine out. led grow
Love ur videos. I get great ideas about how to keep my plants happy. But Plz help how do I keep the green house warm during the winter it getting a little cold here in Texas 40 F to 50 F nights .. and I have a little green house with my tropical plant tht i dont have room for inside the house . I try to look for solar power heater and lights but dont know which one is best.
This is so freaking cool
Are they planning to grow and come to New York ?
It really looks futuristic. And cool
This is pretty amazing – and it's placed in the middle of a concrete jungle on the outside 🙂 I'd love to see it when filled with plants.
Great idea for urban farming, but I have a few questions? Being in Boston, how are the plants hardened off for outdoor delivery/planting? And with vertical gardening, how does gravity play into the plant development?
this is so cool! great video
What a nighmare! That's agenda 21 an 30 right at our door.
Cool. I’m assuming calendulas because they can be sold for more than lettuce. How much power does a system use? All those Watts and BTUs. Can it draw it’s power from an urban grid and still make a profit?
Really cool & perfect for extreme environments, but what a capital outlay! I think I'm going to stick to the old school way 😉
Enjoyed watching the video. I prefer sowing and growing in natural soil, this is too artificial and fake. If we were meant to garden this way God wouldn't of created soil and because of this type of gardening being unnatural you don't know what effect the LED has on the plants nutrition and it may make those plants unhealthy to consume. I wouldn't feel comfortable eating plants that are produced this way just like I don't feel comfortable eating GMO foods.
