Ahead of World Food Day, we’re premiering a new documentary film, Food for the Future (#Food4theFuture). It documents the world’s current food revolution.

Global agriculture generates as much greenhouse gas as the worldwide transport sector. Sustainable food production is therefore not a luxury but a necessity for our common future.

How can we best balance the need for nutritious and affordable food and that of protecting the environment?

hi fitnessgood body, my husband is a farmer in austria and the reason they aren’t payed enough is due to the people who would rather own expensive cars and mobile phones and save on food. if only people realized how addicted they are to their houses, vehicles, and technologies they would quickly realize the importance of feeding themselves properly. I wouldn rather eat meat once a week and support our hard working honest farmers than everyday and slowly see the death of our farming industry. Do not forget that without farmers the world is not able to feed itself. let the governments open up their eyes and understand that if they want to eat their Angus Steaks on Sunday while sipping their Chardoney around their inground pools chatting about how they are pseudo saving the planet and working long hours,,,,,ha ha ha ha ha . LoL. then they should come and spend one week on our farm and then they will really appreciate their freak and T bone steak the next time they grill it. That is it for me .

Just want to mention food forest here. No need to till the soil, so it can build itself again (with some support of us). All the while sinking carbon from the air into the trees, shrubs and soil.

And bringing forth produce that is in general more healthful for us humans too 🙂

( And yes, Ben Adamah is right in saying "There is no such thing as sustainable agriculture."

If you want to know more, have a look a his works: https://daandeboer.net/benadamah )

( And: get out of your 'protein theory' 🙂 🙂 DEAD ANIMALS yeah right, that sounds like it'll be good for me 😛 Will make me radiantly healthy. NOT 🙂

The answer is not always more or faster. We are living on a planet with finite space and resources in case you haven't noticed.

"A study by statisticians at Oregon State University concluded that in the United States, the carbon legacy and greenhouse gas impact of an extra child is almost 20 times more important than some of the other environmentally sensitive practices people might employ their entire lives – things like driving a high mileage car, recycling, or using energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs." https://today.oregonstate.edu/archives/2009/jul/family-planning-major-environmental-emphasis
