The Food Fence is nearly complete for this seasons work. Here I have hung most of the gallon planters of Bell Peppers on it. I will be adding more as the growing season progresses. I didn’t have the financial resources to get it set up with aquaponics yet, so that will be incorporated later. Pretty basic project to build planter boxes for the railing of my deck so I can enjoy growing more plants for food or visual enjoyment. That is actually what I have planned for next season. I am also planning to put up larger planters and possibly some gutters to use for aquaponic growing.

You could offset the pots on the other side of the fence too!

only during the growing season. It does create a micro climate – the shaded area stays a lot moister and cooler than the areas outside of it.

At the moment the God is doing the watering. If you had listened closely in Pt 2 of this series you would have heard me say I am going to install a microline drip irrigation system. The pots are set up so that the water from the top pot will drain into the next pot down and so on. Eventually there will be a gutter underneath to catch returning water to return it to an aquaculture tank, and the Food Fence will be part of an aquaponics system.
