It amazes me that one can have a home and pay a mortgage, yet have someone tell you that you MUST have a lawn. This frustrates me to the core. People have had gardens for ages, while the obsession with flat boring lawns is quite a new phenomenon. I'm so glad this couple was able to keep their beautiful garden.?

It's sad because I'm fighting the HOA in my community…. We can't have ANY form of vegetable garden whatsoever. (I'm doing it anyway to look like landscaping) My argument is why do they think they have the right to control what I eat? And why do they nurture a yard of consumption and not a yard of production? I understand if it's messy looking, but I have seen some absolutely gorgeous gardens (like in this vid) I'm just beside myself…. 🙁 ?

beautiful garden, and a great showcase for others to view to see that we are all farmers at heart. Your front yard is a portrait of the bounty of the earth. bless you both.?

This idea is not new. The Italian and Greek communities in Melbourne have been planting in front yards since the 1950's. It wasn't always welcome, but now it's all the rage. I love this couple garden, its so beautiful.?

This looks like an amazing garden. The one thing I'm really curious about though is how road salt hasn't seemed to damage the garden that's practically hanging over the curb. I live on a farm and I've seen road salt damage to my crops which I'm sure are more tolerable than vegetables.?

So I wonder if by putting just a cap full of ant poison to kill them, does that make the whole garden non-organic?? And how did you handle the other pests that put holes,or chewed leaves or just plain ate up some of the crops??

Moving back to the country after city living for 11 years. This is a monster garden! Watched it all, going over to watch your 2015 video to see the improvement.

Harvesting tomatoes growing up was always a difficult and uncomfortable easter egg hunt through disorganized growth so I'm looking forward to seeing if you found a solution.

    Thanks!?

By far my favourite video on YouTube. I have learnt so much from this not to mention I've watched it 6-7 times ?
Can't wait to see this years garden Matt. Hopefully it's as good as this even thought the garden isn't as big. Best of luck ?

Wow! VERY informative & amazing garden! I love the organic factor & i love u started from seeds. Also, I love ur dogs, the guardians of the farm, lol. IF the older dog has passed on by now, it looks as though he lived an amazing life with u & his best buddy spike. Hopefully u have gotten spike a new best buddy by now, he seems like a happy social playful dog that would need a partner in crime to continue his job as the Guardian of the farm, lol. But seriously, thank u for the videos, amazing, absolutely loved every moment!

The universities all over the world should teach the principles and the research institutes of this world should investigate the underlying mechanisms of Sepp Holzer permaculture/agro-ecology. Sepp Holzer's agricultural system beats conventional/GMO farming in every regard: more production per surface unit, more diversity, more landscape beauty, intact and clean water household, no deforestation and most important, food would become medicine, as food grown in permaculture is packed with nutrients and antioxydants. If the world adopts Sepp Holzer's farming system, we would live in a world of abundance and beauty. We could feed 3 times more people than currently live on earth.
Vive Sepp Holzer! Hoch lebe Sepp Holzer! ??

    Great video.
I saw you struggled a bit with your bracia family in this video. Lots of green with poor head production. Try very firmly packing the soil. Almost pounding it down around the base of your transplant. For some reason the roots like it and force bigger head production, slightly shorter plants too. I also have a tendency to trim the greens from the bottom throughout their season, using them in soup, stir fry, or feeding to my chickens-if I'm sick of it or get some really ugly ones. Makes the wait more bearable.
    Your ambition is inspiring. ?
