i'd rather grow mustards in this. 😀 i'm more of a stir fry gal than a salad gal.
You can run the whole bit in reverse which "burns" the hole into the plastic and you do not have to fight to get the plastic out of the whole saw bit.
put a board under the material to be cut, hole saw will cut clean and not crack the plastic
I need to make some for when the seeds I ordered from you get here. Have you tried the tower planter? My husband wants to get me one for my birthday.
Can you post where the net cups and Rockwell
What organic nutrient solution is good for this non circulating system?)
While more expensive to purchase, if you are going to be doing a lot of these, a knockout punch will provide a cleaner hole.
A trick to keep the plastic from cracking is to run your drill backwards. This prevents the teeth from biting into the plastic and essentially ends up melting through with friction.
I use the same exact totes in my system. Paint the tops black.
Find a wah to suport the lid with a board.
Going to try this
"That is just moderately annoying" lol.. i would be very much annoyed
Would the depth of those totes work with cut & come again? Or would it require refilling the totes with the nutrient solution, and wouldn't that drown the new air roots? I was looking at the Lowes site and found a 27 gallon tote for $11.98. It's 2 inches taller and wider and nearly 4 inches longer than the 17 gallon tote. It looks like 8 could be planted in it in a 2-1-2-1-2 configuration which would be less than $1.50/plant. The 17 gallon works out to about $1.80/plant and the 5 gallon to about $2.49/plant.
I'd like to know how the black plastic does for keeping down algae growth. Could you update us on that later?
Great videos as always. TIP TIP here. I did the same with some junk worn hole saw bits. I took them and heated them with a propane torch and melted holes in. When cool I took a razor knife and cut the flash off. The result is a perfect hole. Please do outdoors.
Option #2, use a metal pipe and heat as well.
Wow, how is it I have never heard the reverse drill method? Luke and I use the old fashioned method.LOL
put the drill in reverse- thanks for the vids bud!! love and share your enthusiasm!!
yea like cutting vinyl siding, i turned my saw blade backward, no jags or snags. Like cutting butter with a hot knife. cool huh?
luke u can buy the lids with out the bucket like 2, 3 bucks I wouldnt risk having a domino effect of headaches #GROWBIG
The intro music is growing on me. I always like the image but the music is growing on me.
Luke I look forward to following how this turns out. Good stuff
Also, I love the hole saw. I used one for building a self watering planter last summer. Before the hole saw the was using a Dremel saw and coring out the hole, hole saw much much better.
