Dan Elitzer, investor at IDEO CoLab Ventures, and Will Price, data scientist at Flipside Crypto, discuss the yield farming craze. In this episode, we cover: the goals of protocols offering liquidity mining the goals of users yield farming right now whether users of Compound will have much awareness of COMP in the future how Compound is trying to dampen inorganic activity and properly align incentives how incentives in one DeFi protocol can screw up another’s such as changes in Compound’s liquidity mining program causing Dai to lose its peg whether the activity created by liquidity mining is sustainable and how whether Compound is overvalued and how to determine valuations for DeFi tokens the security risks that come with trying yield farming how teams can keep their protocols safe given the composability of DeFi and the growing number of developments in the space whether the yield farming craze will cause the price of ETH to rise and why the prevalence of stablecoins might prevent that whether new DeFi tokens could push flagging layer 1s out of the top 10 what will happen if even more Bitcoin comes to DeFi how the next big thing in DeFi might be trying to stack yield across protocols and eventually prime brokerage protocols Thank you to our sponsor! • As to the hype on Defi, read this: "Crypto lending’s going to end badly whilst crypto bros learn that libertarianism in finance doesn’t actually work and regulation exists in “traditional finance” for a very good reason. It’s pathetically predictable." https://twitter.com/mikekelly85/status/1289062182123180032

What I'm seriously wondering is, can I get out from under my bank? Can I somehow transfer the remainder of my mortgage for a fixed rate that is less than what I'm going to be paying overall.
For maths, I'm looking at under 4% for roughly 150k for 22 years left on my loan.
Is this too early and risky of a stage for defi? Even breaking even through the years would really make me feel better than giving banks more power for fractional lending.
Something similar to a down payment? Like leverage 20k on a fixed rate to borrow against and keep paying down to not get liquidated on?

Would be nice if you can do a podcast on RUNE Thorchain(twitter @THORChain_org). Rune will be first to Defi Bitcoin. Does all the audits etc. Difficult to understand. Mainnet kinda soon. It looks like Rune will be a better model than Comp etc. In short, you ask the right questions to help people like me understand it all. Just finding someone to interview from Rune might be hard, still hope you do it.

To say yield farming is risky is such an understatement. A lot of people are going to get burned and everyone will be making surprised pikachu faces when all you have to do is use your brain.
