Hi David, great video. I have done airlift pumps for years. You will get more flow if you send the water vertical straight up. No bends. That curve in the pipe at the top of your system might lose you maybe 10% of the flow. Another thing is you don't need to make a hole in the pipe for the air tube, just stick the air tube through the bottom where the water comes in and then tie it in place where it works well. Believe it or not, with the pipe size you have, sticking the air tube in at the bottom will usually make it work a little better. (I have done tests of this). And I have experience with Azolla. It doesn't just grow on water, but also on damp soil. It can get 1 or 2 cm thick growing on soil. And it loves the drip drip drip coming from an airlift pump onto soil. Really worth a try in your system, I think. Mine was awesome, but it all died last winter because it was long duration cold, maybe 5 below zero for a couple of weeks. Before that, it lasted through a couple of mild winters no problem. If you have the time and donations, you can try horizontal hydroponics powered by the airlift pump, (you can get a couple of liters per minute that way and maybe a commercial sized operation from your 3 watt pump!). Another thing for you or one of your subscribers is to use a trompe (stream or river powered compressor with no moving parts) to provide the compressed air to drive the airlift pump. This spreads hydroponics to areas with no electricity! Best of luck
Have you tried humanure in the system yet?
Fit like..
This is weird, The thought of compost tea hydroponics appeared in my brain, either last night or this morning, and here is your video posted almost a year to the day. good work, good craic..
does it have to be jagari sugar?
Hi David! Great video as always. Could you tell us where you get your hat(s)? Thanks! 🙂
Nice stuff, for this to work properly you need to add a lot more nutrients because the charcoal can really adsorb a lot. The urine will be a nice experiment.
As for a flood and drain aquaponics I think some coarser biochar would work nice, cracked almond shells for example I think would be perfect but I know you don't have those where you are.
Thanks for sharing! I really appreciate all your hard work . Have a fantastic day.
You're a good man brother. Thanks for what you're doing over there, and cheers for the content.
sorry to hear you had some nasty comments.
I like the way you did a start to finish video…
I think you are amazing. I'd be happy to donate. I'll do that in a bit. Some of your stuff is a little over my head. But I'll catch up. I did start a hugelkultur garden thanks to you and that is doing great and has been a definite learning experience. Thank you for the hard work that you do.
Great invention David
Any ideas on how to improve humus content
Interesting
Interesting video. Keep them coming.
