The cast iron garden fountains are a classic of many Italian gardens and squares. Cast iron is an ancient material, which has always been used for street furniture; this is because cast iron is practically indestructible over the years, unassailable by atmospheric agents and also resistant to neglect or carelessness. Surely a material that has maintained a particular charm over the years. This material has been used for centuries not only for its sturdiness but also because it is very versatile, and allows to produce, with the use of special molds, fountains of various shapes and sizes.
In most cases, the companies that produce cast iron products tend to choose very classic products, with decorations and friezes reminiscent of the old cast iron fountains, often still present in the cities; however, there are some rare exceptions. In any case, the colors are the most classic: the typical dark gray color of cast iron, which can be enamelled in green, white and ivory; they are hardly found cast iron fountains of another color.
The cast iron garden fountains then they are almost always of the column type, that is they have a squat column, often truncated pyramid-shaped, to which a styled tap is attached, with possible water collection tank. However, you can also find wall fountains or circular fountains, never too large, to prevent the fountain from reaching excessive weight. Given the strength of the material, the cast iron fountains they can also be small in size, presenting thin circular columns, which carry the tap.

The cast iron products are resistant to shocks, and also to atmospheric agents; to always have one cast iron fountain beautiful and to keep it over time it is possible to paint it periodically, letting a few years pass after painting it. Special enamels are used, if desired it is thus possible to remedy any scratches or peeling of the paint (if present) or change the color of our fountain.
However, this material is often not painted, leaving it with the gray-black color that characterizes it, and therefore does not need to be painted.
