Here’s a planter box you can make for around . I used 2x4s and garden edging (bender board). This will rot away sooner than other types of wood, but for 20 bucks, I’ll just build another one when this finally rots! Or course, you can use these same techniques on teak or cedar if you wanted something more permanent.

That looks like it would hold a lot of dirt and that bottom looks thin to me for the weight it will need to hold. How did it hold up?

Can you make a video of an L-shaped planter box?
Thank you
How many gallons can each planter box hold according to Steve's dimensions for the lumber?
Instead of cutting the cross pieces you could of left them at 18 & 3/4" and made a outside table.
Steve,
Great Work!
Should I have any carpenter skills to build this?
Steve.. love your stuff mate. Could you do something on different woods? You mentioned teak and others.
Hi steve I am thinking of making a planter to place a 4×4 45 inch tall in middle then fill in with cement then sand on top for artificial flowers for my mailbox that will sit on sidewalk .You think you design will hold the weight
what happened to the blog post? i get a 404 when clicking on the link?

I love it and always want to make my own because don't realy like the one at the store
, but it's not easy like you said if you don't gave all the tools, like the saw table etc.
Nice, inexpensive and easy for those who have all the tools needed.:-(
ok…love the video, 1 comment thought, for those who don't have a the fancy tools, just buy the cedar box, same you sometime and get some bonus points and bonus time with the missus…:)
Steve, all the projects you do are made to where even starting out in woodworking guys like myself can learn and master the craft. Thanks for all you do my friend:-)
