*SICK*! thanks for making amazing videos like this, sharing your wisdom
and experience.?
question: why not send water from the fish tank directly to the towers? i
know you’d have to elevate your fish house slightly, but it seems that
would be slightly more efficient, since you wouldn’t potentially have
fishtank water being pumped back into the fishtanks… (i know it gets
mixed in the sump, but doesn’t that just reduce the inefficiency?)?
In another video (which I can’t find now) you mention that you use coated
seeds for planting. Who do you get your seeds from??
re: heating the greenhouse. have you considered using a solar hot water
collector? I’ve read it can work rather nicely?
I here different opinions on running a greenhouse East-West & other say
North-South – what does the Doctor say. Thanks….?
This might be a topical question, I am wondering if you use artificlal
light. I have not seen any, if you were to do so what type of system would
you consider.Cost is a huge concern when covering a large area and systems
are not cheap, so cost/area covered is of importance.
Daylight hours surely affect growth rates during the winter period.A switch
or sensor that shuts on and off artificial light when natural light is
available could increase yields and be energy effecient.
Another question i wanted to ask is what are your growing cycle times ive
read 45 day growing times for lettuce is this achievable or does it
fluctuate?Does this growth cycle continue throughout the year or are there
periods where growth does not occur??
Take a tour of one of Bright Agrotech’s aquaponic vertical farms.
Impressive!?
How much fish / tower do u have? You said 350 towers right? Whats the
mature size of stocking there? ?
Why don’t you grow on both sides of the towers? Couldn’t you increase
their size only slightly and put enough soil inside to make it able to fit
two??
Hi guys, Very nice setup folks, I’m from Western Canada & I will be using a
similar style of green house. Thanks for all the fantastic informative
videos! Very helpful indeed! One question could you better explain conveyor
production in another video? Thanks brother, Happy Holidays!?
Hello…. would I be able to grow sweet peppers vertically??
Great videos! I’m really glad I stumbled on to your site. I just built a
12×16 greenhouse and I intend to grow hydroponic herbs to sell at markets.
Your zip tower system seems very efficient. ?
Nice aquaponics greenhouse design. +Bright Agrotech has some really
informative videos in their Youtube channel. I particularly liked that it
is heated with wood and they have a makeshift geothermal system too.?
what is the size, brand and cost of your greenhouse ??
Welcome to Bright Agrotech’s vertical aquaponic greenhouse!
Here on the blustery high plains of Wyoming, we need to maximize our crop
production in order to make a profit and feed our local community. We’ve
developed a unique growing system utilizing vertical production towers that
allows us to not only grow much more in our space, but also transport our
crops live to market so consumers can cut their own!
TALK ABOUT FRESH!
We want to thank our great Kickstarter backers again for all of your
generous support! Thanks so much and we hope you’ll keep in touch!

Nate is the Co-Founder of Bright Agrotech, a leader in vertical, space
saving aquaponics and hydroponics systems and a commercial producer in the
high plains of Laramie, WY. With this innovative technology, Nate and the
Bright Agrotech team feed dozens of restaurants, over 50 people in a CSA
program and supply for a local grocer.?
Very impressive. If only more farmers would do what you did.
Hey there. Yes that’s correct, we run our greenhouse E/W because we face
our single sided towers to the south for maximum light absorption for a
larger group of towers. By going E/W, the light penetrates through our
densely stacked zones of tower and we get way more light than running them
all N/S. Does that make sense? Try to think of the sun angle, specifically
in winter in the norther hemisphere.
Thanks!
Thanks Nate I enjoyed the tour. I’ve been wondering about your degree. Is
your title …. Nate Storey Ph.D in Thinking Outside of the Box ? You sure
deserve the prize for intercepting winter light !!!! Your crops look so
healthy. When the system is tuned up will it perform with conventional
hydroponics? Also I am wondering if your organic method is certifiable ?
Have you considered capturing rain water ? I realize water use is low …
at least in winter. Thanks again …..
We’re not entirely happy with our geothermal system because we’re not
moving as much air as we hoped. We’ll probably install new blowers to move
more air and think that will help. We’ll let you know how it works out.
From our experience, we think there is a ton of potential for it, we just
don’t have enough info at the moment to give you a solid opinion. Hope that
helps!
Nate I have two additional questions. I noticed a Ladybug population ….
do they control the aphid population for you ? If you temporarily lose your
electricity how long do you have to react before losing fish and or plants
…. I know the answer might vary with the time of day or night this would
happen. Do you have any type of alarm system that would notify you of an
outage ? Thanks again.
hello nate real interested in the underground thermal system how long are
your runs and ground temp at that depth live in zone 9 more worried about
cooling than heating the greenhouse when i finish it ground here stays at
60 year round
Thanks for the nice feedback, Andru!
has anyone tried running recirculating coiled water hoses, under plastic
liner, under compost pile in corner or greenhouse? compost piles get pretty
hot.
we try to stay around 75 during the day and 50 degrees at night. This is no
problem for us, even when it’s -30 outside.
