Planting a lettuce tower is a great way to grow a lot in a little space and is a quick, simple and inexpensive way to grow your own food. For this project I’m repurposing one of my strawberry crate towers by filling it in with lettuce seedlings, but you can also built it from scratch. It will be so much fun to harvest a fresh salad in just a few weeks!

Love this idea. I am going to plant with my son. How to water the plants in the bottom crates? does water passes through the liner?
Could you also stack them diagonally?
Oh my gosh! You look just like my cousin with dark hair! BTW, she's beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.

I love strawberries
CaliKim, thanks for always being so enthusiastic and informative! I love your videos, and all the gardening education I get. You mention the worm castings and tea and other things you do that help your growing beauties, but would you consider a video that covers several things you have tried that did not prove to be as productive or that you personally just didn't really like using? Thanks again!!
When do you first plant your lettuce seeds?
I am in No. Calif. and have strawberries called Albion. I was looking for more space and my eyes landed on a nice, sunny spot of fence. I bought an item called Living Wall Planters. I was checking the internet and fount some on houzz.com that are about the amount I paid a couple years ago from another site. They list four for $59.99. They are made from recycled milk bottles. You could grow many different things in them. I wanted strawberries. I also tried to save my bell peppers this year as you suggested. I cut them back and moved to a more sheltered location outside. I packed some dry leaves on top of soil and then placed a bit more soil to hold down the leaves. So far so good. Thanks!
Thanks Kim! That filled out nicely! I got the lettuce types you planted but I missed what strawberry varieties you have? They must be year-round or everbearing?
Is there a Good dirt discount code?
smash them or whack them with your shoe
where did you get the hook tool pls
nice tower, I like the lettuce addition . great video.
Nice! When in doubt go vertical. I can't tolerate store-bought lettuce. Every time I drive through the Salinas Valley there are aircraft spraying something pretty stinky over the head, romaine and butter lettuce fields. The beautiful heads in the supermarket must be 90% pesticide.
