Does the depth have to be so deep for growing vegetables? I just barely got into this stuff. I ask because I want to do a mix of aquaponics and vertical farming. So if the holding containers for the vegetables aren't so deep I can stack more in less space.

The modern concept of hydroponics has existed longer than aquaponics, but the practice of aquaponics can actually be traced back to ancient times. More and more people are beginning to realize the benefits and advantages that aquaponics has over other gardening systems.

There has been an increasing amount of institutes and gardeners around the world on every level of society that are adopting the aquaponics method, and it’s only a matter of time before this sustainable food system is standardized.

Nice Video! Apologies for chiming in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about – Patlarny Gardening Expert Principle (google it)? It is a great one off guide for learning how to expand your produce with the clever art of aquaponics without the headache. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my cousin got astronomical success with it.

I keep watching diff vids and going on diff forums, but keep getting conflicting info. I don't have Reverse osmosis water available to me, so I'm not sure what to use. Some say using tap water that has been conditioned is fine, but not to use distilled, spring or alkaline water some say that it's fine to use those type of water. Would like to get into Aquaphonics & Hydroponics but I would like to grow plants that I can eat!

Awesome info. Your system is pretty damn amazing. Also. the contest is a great idea for learning hydro so I'm really interested in seeing the process and results. — I'm the guy that asked you about the buckets in email btw, I hadn't watched all of your vids so I hadn't seen the round buckets you were using, only the square ones with lids earlier on. Seems like everyone on youtube uses the square ones so I thought there must be some practical reason for it. I think no problem sourcing round buckets without lids here in Phils so it's all good.  🙂
