Fish stocking density is very important to maximize yields in your aquaponics system. (Read more: http://brightagrotech.com/aquaponics-stocking-density/) In this video, Dr. Nate Storey gives you some helpful hints on finding the correct stocking density for YOUR own aquaponics setup. My question may have been answered already, but here it is anyway lol. Are saying 1 fish for ever 8-10 gallons in the grow media, or 1 fish for 8-10 gallons of water for the whole system tank included?

I am using aquaphonic but I just think natural water system is more efficient. I am able to cultivate 10.000 fish in a tank (diameter three) without changing and filtering water. I use positive bacteria to eat ammonia and feces. Just go to my channel and wacth how I do that then lets we learn together.

Hi. i'm designing a commercial aquaponic system with common carp. we can't buy big tanks (because they are so expensive and hard to get here) to ensure to have enough water (in tanks) as you suggesting. i know its sounds crazy but electricity and all that fancy stuffs you mentioned are more better options for me here. i have very cheap and reliable electricity that wont fail me. question is : can i have more dense like 40-50 kg/m3 common carp, so i can have about around 500 lb of common carp in like 1000 gallon tanks? and pleas make a yes or no answer about " buy total water" you mean whole water in system? btw i think both of my questions are same 🙂
thank your for knowledge that you sharing.

Can anyone please direct me to a good spot to get taller tanks, I currently have some IBC's to start up my system but I would like to find some taller tanks so save on space. BTW amazing video! Thanks in advance.

Great VIDEO! I was wondering if I wanted to stock more fish to around the commercial levels using air pumps, would that be acceptable? OR would I need to add biofilters to help with the nitrogen and other fish waste levels? Would it harm the plants?

Hey how many tilapias fish is needed to gro 20 pieces of lettuce or tomato or cucumber .? Or in general how many fishes for plant?
And in wich age the tilapia is ready for aquaponics?
    Thanknyou for your time !

Is the volume of 1 pound of fish per 8 to 10 gallons is based on the fish tank size or the whole gallons that are circulating all around the system ( fish tanks + growing beds + sump tank) ?

If you're working with an submersible pump and need more oxygen in your water,
try making a "DIY venturi aeration" (real easy and budget-style); or
you can also buy 'em off the shelve (lazy, double-lefthander-style ;-p).

Hello, i have a home aquarium and 55 gallons and like 40 fish. Small Fishes, i have installed a Growing bed with like 20 Lb of Hydroton ( I have 2 mints, 4 Onions and 1 Basil there ) and  also 2 PVC with 9 holes where i want to plant 9 Lettuce.  Do you think that its' ok ? For the amount of Fish and Water.  Do i have to plant less ? or can i plant even more ?  ( BTW the Aquarium have 2 separate Biological Filters ). Thx for the reply

I know this question was asked earlier in the comments, but can't seem to find the answer to it, 1 lb of fish for 8-10 gallons of fish tank water or total system water?

Stocking density for the tanks stays the same, and, if you have a similar number of fish, your nutrient content is similar as well. However, your stocking density as a function of your entire system volume is lower, and depending on whether you're using towers entirely for solids filtration, you can achieve higher system nutrient content with towers because they function as the biofilter- allowing solids to be processed in the system.

thanks for your great videos. can you tell the difference in fish and
plant stocking in your vertical zip grow system and a floating raft system? how does the big difference in watervolume influence the amount of nutrients in the water? thanks
